Parts Tracing :: Product monitoring

The call for a much cited lot size of 1 and the innovation trigger Industry 4.0 (the smart factory) more than ever challenge enterprises in redesigning and developing their production processes. In addition, there is pressure from customers regarding quality assurance, product liability and product traceability. Especially in the automotive branch, the requirements for continuous traceability are enormous.

With parts tracing, cronetwork introduces functionality that enables a producer to provide data at any time. Questions regarding when, where, by whom and especially with which material batches a production run occurred, can now be answered with only a few mouse clicks.

It begins with the serial number

We go one step beyond. cronetwork parts tracing immediately gives you full transparency for your products down to the individual component. This is enabled by a new form of logic that, in the background, links components of production jobs with unambiguous serial numbers. Whether you use an ID sticker, laser-engraved barcode, a data matrix code or an RFID chip, each individual component must be uniquely identifiable.

One result is an automatic feedback system across the entire production process. Where an operator previously had to report an operation at the machine, feedback is now handled automatically based on the serial number. Potential human errors due to manual entry are a thing of the past. Further, you have secure and, most of all, loss-free data collection.

A step toward a lot size of 1

cronetwork parts tracing also enables high-quality flexible production, where work centers adjust themselves to the requirements of the individual product based on the detected serial number – assuming that machine retooling occurs fully automatically. Instead of an unachievable myth, this makes a lot size of 1 more and more to a living reality in the production halls of cronetwork users.

Traceability as basic prerequisite

Especially the automotive branch is subject to high pressure from customers with respect to quality assurance. In addition to the functionality regarding automated operation feedback, cronetwork parts tracing also enables the collection of process data per individual piece. Collected data are saved directly to the operation. A side benefit is increased performance of terminals because manual input there is no longer necessary.

You can define and combine your own thresholds. Thus you can determine whether quality criteria are met with each step.

In the sense of product liability, each individual piece contains extensive data about the production process. This lets you continuously document that each part has gone through all production steps in compliance with prescribed values. Otherwise you have all important data for a defective product and can use such for corrective measures in the future.

As part of plant data collection, parts tracing is fully integrated in cronetwork MES.

Instead of an unachievable myth, this makes a lot size of 1 more and more to a living reality in the production halls of cronetwork users.

The example for the production of wheel rims shows how cronetwork parts tracing helps to pave the way toward the smart product.
